Home Insurance Delays - Unfair?
[Deleted User]
We pay building insurance via our Housing Association.
The property is shared ownership, hence the above.
We made a claim and we have had nothing but delays since about September last year.
We still await the repairs.
Can I complaint? Or have I lost this right? because I pay via the HA.

What does the policy say about complaining?0

Nothing because we only have a list of what is covered.
We have to pay the HA and then they pay FARR Insurance.
I thought as we are paying it must be covered by the FOS, or is there some rule that says it's covered by the Housing Regulators due to the arrangement.
The Policy is not just our policy, it's one huge policy for the whole portfolio of houses and we pay the amount that our house costs on that policy.
Thanks.0 -
You normally pay your rent and service charge to the HA and the HA is responsible for insuring the property. You are not billed separately for the block building insurance.
Is your arrangement different? Do you have policy documentation specifically for your property?
The HA is normally the policyholder and must make any representations directly to the insurer, or to the insurer via the broker. I suggest you start making a nuisance of yourself with the HA if you feel the matter is not being handled properly.
BTW Farr is a broker, a trading name of Property & Commercial, it is not an insurer itself.I am a mortgage broker. Ahh I see
They do charge us insurance + service charge + rent
But as you say they hold the policy, we are a house.
We have a major complaint against the HA at the moment anyway, so I don't want to go too far as to cause a problem with my complaint that is with the Ombudsman.
Also the HA has taken to only responding to us via a solicitor. Silly really as we are probably paying for that :rotfl:0
