Liquid eyeliner for the mature woman

I like to use a liquid eyeliner as it stays put all day but I overheard someone say the other day that liquid eyeliner is too harsh for older women and I am middle aged. Does anyone else of my age use it and find it OK?

I prefer the gel style ones in the pot, MAC,Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, you apply with a brush. You can soften and light smudge them for a soft smoky look.0

I use waterproof pencil liner but just on the inside rim of my eye, too many baggy now for eyeliner to look good and stay looking good, I'm 44:)All power is from within and therefore under our control0

I am a mature woman and I love Clinique pencil liner

It is so easy to apply, glides on smoothly and lasts all day without smudging.I have tried liquid and gel liners but I found I could never get a straight line and the effect was too harsh on me,a pencil gives a softer line.0 -
A dark brown might be less harsh than a black liner.
Although I'm not in the "mature" category, rather than liquid liner, I tend to use a damp thin brush with black eyeshadow, it gives a softer line which suits me better (also find it easier to apply)0 -
