Which would you choose ?, I have two bank accounts one with Barclays and one with Halifax, they have:
Barclays
Debit Card
Cheque Book
Halifax Reward
Contactless Debit card
Cheque Book
£500 Overdraft (Never Used)
I use the Halifax for the free £5, and keep the rest in Barlcays and use that for day to day spending, Direct Debits, Taking out Cash, Standing orders etc, should I just keep doing it that way, or is it best to dump Barclays and just keep the Halifax Reward for everything ?
Thanks.

What's the point in dumping? Just stop using it.0

It depends on what you want from your bank account and what you value. Those who value ethics may bank with co-op/smile those who want a big branch network will choose barclays and also if your a big user of overdraft you will choose the account that has the lowest overdraft charges. I would say before you dump either look at the whole market and see if these are the best bank accounts for what you want0
-
Whichever you decide to dump, leave it open for about 6 months or so. I closed down my Barclays account after about a year of not using it. So now I only have 9 current accounts, but they are all used.0

Don't get me wrong but I personally would say Barclays & Halifax are the worst banks IMHO.
Barclays customer service stinks.
Halifax is OK for a fiver a month if your skint but if you're one of these who hits their overdraft then you're in Pay Day Loan APR Territory.0 -
Keep both incase LBG or Barclays goes T**ts up.
Barclays do have awful customer service though.
Halifax is expensive but has less bounced fees etc if your overdrawn.BugsyBrowne wrote: »Don't get me wrong but I personally would say Barclays & Halifax are the worst banks IMHO.

Thankfully I have never used the Overdraft, nor do I ever intend too, so hopefully will be okay. Not too impressed with the offshore call centres with Barclays, its like they just read from a script and anything outwith that stumps them.0 -

Yep getting through to indian call centres where you basically get a robot where if the answers are not in front of them they go silent and freeze.
Now to me Barclays make millions out of indian call centres and to them they don't give a sh*t if their customers are tired of this as its a sure bet the boss's at Barclays don't have to speak to them.0 -
Barclays Indian call centres are so awful...they make you want to weep:(Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0

Keep them both open. It is always good to have at least two current accounts with unconnected banks. You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)0
