Hello,

Last year I started a job, that I didnt continue with for various reasons but was there for less than a month, I was paid for the time I was there but they charged me £45 tax for less than a months work.
My question is will I have to write to them to have this returned or will I get it back without contacting them..?
Thanks

At the end of the tax year, total up your income from all jobs across the whole year and the total amount of tax paid and you will see if you have overpaid

That was my only job and was an apprenticeship so it had a long period of training and inductions which I wasnt paid for, which is fine and wasnt expecting to be paid for. So since last April, that was my only job and was paid £237.55 and then had £45 taken off for tax. Ive been doing voluntary work since and havent received earning since then either.

Have you received your P45 from them? Have you received JSA?

Presumably you handed in your P45 when you started JSA? Are you still receiving JSA?

No they didnt ask for it and I didnt realise they needed it, they took a photocopy of my payslip though, yes I am still on JSA unfortunately.

On thinking about it Im not sure if they did take a copy of my P45 but I dont think they did. I think the only thing I did have to do was fill out a form to explain my reasons for leaving.
