I would, if you have enough rooms in your house, look instead about renovating it. In particular,k soend the money repairing and improving it. This should pay off with increased value/sale-ability.
At your age, how will you get on on just the state pension? I assume you have been making contributions as self employed? Get a state pension forcast.
If you can't manage now, you won't be able to manage in future. So do look at pension planning, to out some of your cash there. you can put in up to 50K this year, 40 next or your salary/income whichever is lower. And you can use the last few years as well. This would give your money an immediate uplift, then when you retire you can take 25% of the fund as a lump sum and use the rest to provide an income to top up your state pension.
It will have the additional benefit of taking some of your money out of your hands so it won't be tempting to spend it now, and to keep it safe from the clutches of others.
But yes, overall you need an IFA and some pension planning. But do get some ISAs sorted this week. You can always transfer them later elsewhere.0
