Hey everyone, I'm after some advice and help when it comes to financial support whilst studying. I've been told by OU that I can apply for a student loan of 5000 (it's a part time course) when I asked them how would my current benefits be affected they didn't have a clue so I contacted the job centre, again they had no idea and I contacted housing/council tax and they didn't have any idea either! I need to know before I put in for any loans etc so I don't end up in some awful situation. I have 2 children under 5. If anyone can shed some light that would be great. Thanks.

Hi
I don't think it affects you at all as the money is paid directly to the OU in part payments as you complete the course. You will have to start paying it back in 2016 when the fees become repayable from any salary that you earn over 21k
You do not qualify for any maintenance loans as it is part time studyThere are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0
