Hello all,
Wonder if anyone can help me,
I have a Dell Inspiron1300 which is about 10 yrs old and a couple of days ago I tried to start it and got the BSOD, I have tried to start it in safe mode along with all the other safe mode methods it suggests when pressing the F12 and F8 keys but it keeps going to the blue screen and won't go any further. I had this problem a few years ago but it has always started in "safe mode" but not this time. Apart from chucking it in the bin or taking it to a computer repair shop, has anyone got any ideas?
Is this the end for my computer?
Much obliged for any help

On the BSOD what error message does it give?
Have you changed anything in the machine lately?
Thanks0 -
The full and exact wording of the message (including the long line of numbers/letters) in the centre of the BSOD is crucial in finding out what's causing it.How do I add a signature?0

when initially booting, check BIOS and set to not auto reboot on BSOD and hat gives you a good chance to see the error code such as xx000F01 or similar and then the error can be assessed. It might just be a file that has become corrupt, but you need to take it from there. I have sometimes just asked to reboot from last known good configuration with success0

hello to you all,
sorry I haven't got back to you, i'm using a borrowed 'puta and can't always access it......
Right, the error message is as follows....
A problem has been detected and windows hs been shut down ....and so on.....
lower down the screen is.....
Technical Information:
STOP: 0X000000ED (0X82939A98, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000).
Like I have said in my first post, I have tried all the "safe mode" methods after presing F8/F12 and so on.
Thanks for your replies by the way.

0X000000ED is unmountable boot volume/disk
0XC0000006 indicates the filesystem is corrupt
If you have your windows recovery cd then boot off this into recovery console and then perform a chkdsk /r0
