Would bank take a dim view of one off betting transaction?

Well, as at least two very categorical statements were made above like "they don't care" and "they don't take a dim view... it's all legal", it's worth posting a link to this thread:
Matched Betting Affected Mortgage Application
That's why on that board it's advised for 'gambling' transactions to use e-wallets instead as much as possible.0 -
Well the deed is done.
Put a £5 each way (so yes it cost me a tenner) bet on Big Fella Thanks with Paddy Power at 40/1 and paid with my FD debit card.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -
I work for a bank and have an account with a separate institution that I use for gambing purposes.0

I don't plan on making a habit of it.
Just fancied a bit of a flutter as I'm one year older tomorrow and have been quite lucky money wise from the tail end of last year and the beginning of this as I got 1800 quid as my PPI claim was upheld on a loan I settled but it was inferred I wouldn't get if I didn't take the PPI.
Did some overtime over Christmas and that worked out more lucrative than I thought it might be so has meant I've paid a fair bit off my debts.
Just need to win the lottery to pay off all my debts and move up north to take a job up with a company I've always wanted to work for and also start my own little business too.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -
Betting is a mug's game - the only winner is the bookie - in the long run.
A ittle flutter now and again is ok as long as it does not get hold of you.0 -

Thanks for the link - I don't gamble, but it had never occurred to me that a bank might ever examine the expenditure on my account! An interesting warning.0 -
applied and got granted a mortgage last year, been doing matched betting for over 10years now if anything its improved my credit rating as been able to stretch my overdraft multiple times due to the large amount of transactions (10k pcm)0

Yes, I re-mortgaged a few years ago while betting (fixed-odds and spread to quite large stakes) and there was never a problem. I don't think they ever looked at my bank statement.0

My husband spends around £50pm on various bets (and usually wins and pays back in!) we don't use an overdraft and only have normal salaries, we have just applied and got a 95% mortgage, they were more interested in our actual credit than what transactions we do.0

No chance of me applying for a mortgage anytime soon unless I'm happy living in a shedInterests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0
