Insurance renewal due a strong possibility of subsidencef

My insurance is up for renewal in 5days. I had a painter/decorator come round to give me an estimate. I have plastered walls that have some cracks which i expected however i have noticed more showing up at by the wall near the window and also a few on the wall adjoining the stairs. I have small patch of clay soil outside against the wall that the cracks have appeared. Am i too late to put in a claim? I was thinking of switching, as renewal quote has gone up. Extremely worried, having read various threads. Never had to make any sort of claim before.

Don't contact any insurer till you know that you have subsidence!

There hasn't been much subsidence this past year, hasn't been the conditions for it in most of the country. Are the windows recently done at all? Does the lintel above seem seem in good condition?

If you have suspicions now though, it'd probably make sense to renew with the same insurer, even if it's a few ££s more expensive. No harm in asking them to pricematch a quote though.
