Barclaycard Question

Options
Hello :)

Just a quick question to anybody who owns a barclaycard.

Online it's telling me my last statement was 6th March. I hadn't received the card by then so it was a £0.00 balance. So, does that mean that my statement will come in on 6th April, 6th May etc...

If yes, does that mean that any transactions I make for example today (24th March) will be added onto my statement dated 6th April. If so, when does that need to be paid off in full to ensure I don't get charged interest?

Sorry if this is confusing, I'm just trying to get my head around it all. Any help at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ryan

Yes, although the date could move by a day or two either side.

By the date shown on your April 6th statement!

But if you must know now, then either see the payment date on the 6th March zero balance statement (if shown), or work it out from the 'up to xx days' interest free period.

Perfect. Yeah the last statement is showing it needs to be paid by the 4th April. So next statement will come in on 6th April approx and will have to be paid by 4th May

    Perfect! Thanks for your help.

The rule here is to read every statement without fail, as the payment due date may differ each month (as not every month has 31 days) and always make sure you leave 3-5 days for a payment to clear to your card account.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

This is especially true with Barclaycard, who like to vary the date by a few days each month in my experience.

How are you paying? Are you sure that's the right date - that seems very close to your statement date. Possibly they are allowing you more days to the 4th April because of Easter?

I only question it because I pay by direct debit (where companies usually take it very close to the date your next statement is generated on).

My statement is always on/around the 21st. Payment is normally taken on/around the 15th of the following month. I've just had my March one and it's following the 21st March statement generated & 15th April payment pattern. That's 4 or 5 working days every month between payment & statement - 2 days on a regular basis doesn't sound right.

On a similar note, I do try to avoid using the cards close to the statement date - for example if I'd used it on the 18th March, then it needs paying by 15th April which isn't too long.

If I used it on the 22nd March however, the statement it's added to is the 21st April one, and it's then due to be paid on 15th May - nearly 8 weeks away.
  • Barclaycard normally give you 28 days after the statement date.

Payment by Debit card is normally available within 2 hours to spend, 2 business days to post on your statement.
I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!

I have a barclays credit card. When I am online they always tell me when my next payment date it. If you have just paid you do need to give it a few days to update. But the money you have paid in is available almost immediately to use again.
