First poll results are in:
59% in favour
21% against
19% don't know
Of which.....
Conservative voters: 72% in favour
Labour voters: 55% in favour
Lib Dem voters: 68% in favour
UKIP voters: 54% in favour

Worth noting that this was only on the 20% interest free loan question, which is the more controversial of the two measures.
I suspect polling on the less controversial "freeing up the market" aspect through guarantees which will cost the state very little, would poll even higher.

Fewer than 2,000 people filling in a survey to get 50p.
Woop.
Proves the media, consumer groups, economists, politicans, business groups and journalists wrong. Infact, I'd go as far to say all these talking heads are completely irrelevant now, thanks to those people claiming their 50p.0 -
The fact that nobody really knows the fine detail, not even the politicians, policy designers, CML etc., of how it is actually going to work or more importantly just how much it will cost.
I fail to see how anyone can give a considered positive response. It's easier to be sceptical because you know what your strating point is."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Yet they manage to accurately determine voting intentions of the UK to within a percent or so every time.
Yep, polling sure is useless. :rotfl:“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Many commentators seem to be worried that it may just drive prices up without creating any building. Unusual thing is that they see this as a potentially bad thing.0

The stated intention is to meet the aspirations of the strivers to actually get onto the housing ladder. If they can't actually afford it kind of misses the point if they just get saddled with unnecessary debt."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Well it will all go into the saving for house deposit fund.0 -
it makes no difference how many approve of the measure; it's the number that choose to buy an overprice new property that matter0
