My partner originally wanted a Kindle e-book but having looked a the cost, I have decided to buy her a Nexus or KFHD. I have zero clue on which one to get. Also it will be used to download books and for internet - would you recommend 16 or 32GB about £40 difference...
Thanks tech guys?!

The Nexus tends to win in comparison reviews. A couple of examples:

The caveat on this is it all depends on what you want to do with the device, and whether you want to live in the Google or Amazon ecosystem. I have had Nexus 7 with 16Gb for about 9 months and I am no where near filling the memory up.
Bear in mind that neither has an e-ink screen, so if the primary use is for reading, then the original Kindle might be a better bet, with a longer battery life and easier on the eyes screen, but this would mean losing the internet/app capability.0 -
Thought fire had internet/app capabilities ?
Yes it does but Shimrod was talking about the original Kindle for improved battery life and ability to read in sunlight. How would you download books with out wifi ?
The original Kindle has wifi capability to download books. Some also have 3G.0 -
Kindle and Kindle paperwhite are E readers with electronic ink specifically designed for reading.
Kindle Fire is a completely different beast and does NOT use electronic ink.
If she wants it for READING then its got to be a kindle, a kindle paperwhite, or a Kobo alternative.
You can pick up a wifi kindle for £50 at any of the Cash exchange places in town or off ebay. Also battery life on Kindle will last a lot lot longer than a tablet.0
