Want to invest my savings to make more money!

yes, i use those sites.
As for Freddie, I don't believe from his posting history he is sitting on 1.3 mil from investing in trackers.banks - run by finance experts paid vast sums - they keep losing money - if you don't believe me just take a look at cyprus
yes some banks have lost money, some have gone down. Others like HSBC continue to make huge sums of money. Which banks are you talking about?
No I don't hold stock in HSBC, and no I don't take advice from my bank.0 -
Like the OP I was looking at investing due to a poor return on my savings.
After reading Tim Hale's book Smarter Investing I decided to use a tracker fund as I don't have the confidence to actively manage my investment.
I chose the HSBC FTSE All Share Tracker due to its low TER and plan to drip feed into it over the next 10-15 years to allow me to minimize fluctuations in the market. Plus with the All Share being full of multinationals its quite diverse exposure.
Being the market is never going to make you millions but it should at the very least over the long term beat inflation which is my goal.
Certainly would recommend Tim Hale's book as an excellent starting point to give you a better understanding. GL.0 -
That is a good start, but further funds should track a different index/region for diversity?0

Hi andrethomas2008,
I hope that the advice that you are getting from other users on your thread are helpful.
Please let me know whether you are in a position to lend me only £5000. I will refund you back after one year with 10% interest. Thank you for your reply.

Is this meant to be a joke? or am I being too skeptical?Girlie Girl0 -
I'd be very skeptical of such PM's0

True, if he is old enough to have fully invested from PeP days, which i doubt from the tone of his posts.
As for entrepreneur, they were here asking abt where they could get start up money for a business, as banks aren't lending to start ups. Someone asked for a PM to see if they wanted to invest, dont think it was Andrew. Maybe they are desperate?0 -

A feature on them in the Telegraph.
Typically, they give conflicting advice. One says take profits, the other says stay invested.
A bit like asking a lottery winner how he picked his numbers and assuming it will work for you too :rotfl:
The only thing they seem to have in common is start early and keep investing regularly whatever the state of the market.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -

No offence but maybe dip into the book again? Tim hale most definately doesn't recommend investing in a single market index fund.0 -
