All very well slagging off Germany, but whatever they did worked very well and the same opportunities were there for the failing countries as well. They just chose not to take them.

Why do they have a pervasive desire to dominate Europe all the time?

If they are so successful why don't they pull up the drawbridge and and tell us all to get stuffed?

They are a trading nation, and very good at it. Others should have watched what they were doing and tried to learn something rather than slagging them off all the time.

Sounds like the front page of the Daily Mail. Totally ill informed.

The UK has dug its own hole with its love of property at the expense of investing wealth creating assets.

And you sound like the second page :)

Why were they so desperate to take on all the "lame ducks"?

Cyrpus joined the EU in 2004. Before the crash of 2007 the UK economy was booming. Who foresaw events unfolding as they are now.

Well there were probably a few that thought it couldn't go on especially some in the inner circles of power and banking but preferred not to open the can.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone like you didn't have an inkling.

I suspect because the Euro was a political rather than economic strategy.

The truth of the matter is that Germany is not the economic powerhouse that most people think it is.

The Euro is the only reason that Germany has a strong economy due to it giving Germany an artificially low exchange rate making their exports very cheap compared to their cost if Germany still had the Mark.

Many economists believe that if the Euro collapses then German exports will increase in price by between 40 and 70% within weeks.
This, which is why they're so keen for Greece, Cyprus etc to stay with the Euro no matter the long term misery for the people there.

If those nations drop out, watch the value of the Euro shoot up overnight and German exports drop.
