Harveys store purchase cancellation policy - advice please

I placed an order for a corner & 3 seater sofa at a harveys store in Jan. we have been putting delivery off as we were moving house and now that we have the keys to the house we have discovered the corner sofa will not fit in the living room. We now want to change this to a 2seater. The advisor in store said there was nothing that could be done. Online orders however can be cancelled up to 7 days after delivery - I discovered this by reading terms & conditions online. Are we still within our rights to cancel / amend the order? We foolishly paid in full in cash. I have yet to contact Harveys customer service telephone line. Surely online terms & conditions should be the same as those for in store purchases
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No they shouldn't. Online purchases are covered by distance selling regulations. In store purchase are not. Unless their terms permit you have no statutory right to cancel.
You can notify them you are not honoring the contract. But you would be liable for their losses. If they let you, that is. Although since it's not been custom made or delivered they'd struggle to reject this notice.
Contact their head office, they may be more forthcoming.0 -
No, the sale is complete, the suite belongs to the op, there is no right to reject it for any reason at this stage. If the OP tries to reject delivery they could just end up running up storage charges for it.No they shouldn't. Online purchases are covered by distance selling regulations. In store purchase are not. If op tries to cancel before delivery is even attempted it could well be seen as anticipatory breach of contract. But depends how far each party would want to take it, for what could go either way.0

Thanks. We will try contacting their Head Office & see if they can make any goodwill gestures. We would even be prepared to pay more for a single & 2 seater in exchange for the corner sofa. What a fine mess!0
