Laptop has broken twice!

I bought a laptop from Currys (on a buy now pay later scheme) I also paid for the extended warranty, I bought it in November and it broke down in December, I took it back and they offered me a new laptop which I took, assuming the fault was a one off as the laptop is e decent one, Sony vaio. It then broke again recently, in march, I took it to the store with the intention of returning it and cancelling the contract. Off course they said they can't do that And they will try and repair it. What are my rights?

Unfortunately it doesn't make a difference whether it was on buy now pay later or not - if you have had the laptop for four months it is down to the store's discretion whether to replace or repair the damaged laptop, and they will make this decision based on the nature of the fault. If it's a fairly standard repair procedure rather than major damage then they will usually repair. Is there a reason you don't want them to repair it? Was the fault the same in the old and new laptop? If so, I understand your concern about there possibly being an issue with that range of laptops but it is also very likely that you will find that the laptop will be fine after the repair.

If not, there is some good news as you have taken out the additional warranty - Currys' extended warranty includes the rather ridiculously-named "no lemons" guarantee (which means that if your laptop develops a fault multiple times you can then request a replacement instead of a repair). So if you do find that it continues to have problems in the future, you can request a replacement under those terms, and you will be able to choose a different laptop in the event of that happening, so hopefully that is of some consolation. The additional cover will also mean that your repair shouldn't take too long.

    Hope that helps.
