Installers tend to do this because they know that they are never going to have to come back to do any maintenance.
DIY house builders like myself, make sure that there is good access because they know that if any maintenance is required, they are the one who is likely to have to do it. People seem to think that bath panels are there to make the bath room look nice. They are not, they are there to provide access to the under bath pipework.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

When customers spend on average 7k on a bathroom refit with myself they don't want a crappy plastic panel, no do they want a fake wood effect MDF item!

Soldered copper tube, no DIY push fit junk, Solvent weld plastic. Leave spare tiles under the bath with box/ supply details. Leave a single tile access hatch......Job done

Even tiling a panel fully it is not the end of the world to remove a single tile , if a professional cant do this then you need to find someone else who's skilled and competent
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure
  • Hi all

Apparently the tiled panel is secured in place with pipe clips so easy to remove once the sealant is removed. Plumber coming tomorrow to check where the leak is coming from
  • Well I wouldn`t touch a tiled bath panel - but then my boy is a plasterer so we`d have a hole in the ceiling below then make it good or install a access trap . Unless it`s in the middle of your living room !

I thought the same initially but if the trap isn't in the void or if the leak is from the waste or the taps, you'll need another son who is a joiner :D:D:D:D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
