Holidaying with friends Family - Insurance together or separately?

Hi,

We have booked to go to Crete in August- My family of 4 with our friends family of 4. As we have booked together, do we need to take out 1 insurance policy to cover us all, or can we take out 2 separate family policies.

We did this last year, however it was in the back of my mind should we need to claim there may be difficulties because we had booked together, we should have insured together!

Can anyone clarify this for me please?

Sarah:)

Booking separately is absolutely fine - in fact in many ways, it is advisable.

It doesn't matter who you are travelling with - if you wanted to insure each adult separately you could even do that. (though, that would be somewhat odd)

Thanks - it appears cheaper to insure the 2 families separately.

  • If anyone needs to make a claim (and I hope not) it might be easier if each family has their own insurance as otherwise it might be difficult to deal with the insurance company if you were not the policy holder
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013

In my previous experience, i would reccomend that whilst it is OK to have 2 seperate family insurance policies (which is usually the cheapest option), at least try get them with the same insurance company, just in case anything happens. Much easier dealing with 1 insurance company instead of 2.
