Also - for the cake, we simply made 3 fruit tiers (As we wanted them completed before the wedding) and used ready to roll icing
Decorations were ribbons (attcahed with pins with coloured tops) and for the bottom and middle layer we had fresh flowers and a personalised cake topper from ebay for the top of the cake.
When going for a M&S cake bear in mind the cake height is half of a professionally made cake so isn't a like for like comparison.
I am a proffesional cake maker but also help DIY brides with their own. Servings wise my plain 10,8,6" sponge that serves 72 generous portion (148 skinny portions) is cheaper than the M&s option to get the same portions and delivered and set up. (You would need 2 of each sizes from M&S to get like for like servings)
I could be seen as biased but genuinely commenting as a money saving tip. Check with your local baker first before assuming a supermarket will be cheaper.
