Trouble with gas billing

I have written to both TW and BG and the ombudsman and I am currently going through the complaint procedure. My main issue is because of bad admin from TW or BG (who knows) I have been unable to change supplier since move in.
Surely if I have not signed a contract with BG and have paperwork to prove that I have made every effort to leave them, I should not be entitled to pay the price I have not agreed upon for the last 9 months?
I take your point about meter readings but this isn't going to stop TW providing their readings to BG and in the end it would have been my word against TW's.
You have a 'deemed contract' with the supplier the second you use power, you don't need to sign anything and will normally be on the standard (expensive) tariff. If you have a paper trail from the earliest days of trying to switch off the most expensive tariff then BG should not bill you for that.
It would not simply be your word against TW's, that is not how disputes over readings are resolved. TW's account is a separate one to yours, you supply opening readings for your account and these are used. If there is a discrepancy the supplier may write off the money, they may come to read the meter themselves, they may ask you for more readings so you can demonstrate your average use. If that fits in with your initial readings that is what you will be charged.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
