Npower doubled my direct debit

NPower have always done this to me, wildly varying my monthly DD twice a year. I've been with them for over 10 years and I'm used to it and don't mind too much as it all evens out over the year (though why they can't average the two figures out to a middle value I'll never know).
I was paying £66 a month (dual fuel) until my last bill in November. As I was £220 in credit by then they reduced it automatically to £32 a month. So, oddly, my DD over the pricey winter months is less than half what it is in the cheap summer months!
My account is now in credit by £390 and when the next bill comes in June I'll see how they calculate it. What normally happens is that I'll be slightly in arrears and they'll hike it up again and the cycle will repeat.0 -
With my balance down to £112 I phoned them and spoke to someone more reasonable. she agreed £94 was now too much and has reduced it to £62. Seems it depends who you speak to - as previous person said I'd be on the £94 dd until October, and I knew this would make me about £200 in credit, which I can't afford and never signed up to.
I didn't whinge, as I've been accused of; that's just ignorance (and actually pointless and also a bit vindictive) to describe me in that way. I just asked for a reduction as it is a huge jump to £94 and much more than I've been used to paying.:A0
