Hi moneysavers,
I've got a Vista Trial disk (RM1 or something), I decided to Install it today and a error message popped up saying I needed more RAM.
I have 256MB of Ram On My Dell Insprion 1300 Laptop, so what do I do and need?
Thanks in advance :j

If you enjoy watching paint dry.
Realistic absolute minimum 1 gig, sensible 2 gig.
As for installing it on an old machine, don't even think about it.0 -

Vista will run perfectly well with 512MB.. It doesnt need a minimum 1GB. Been using it on my laptop with 496MB (8MB used for video card) and it loads faster than XP and never had a problem.0

Vista Basic has an absolute minimum requirement of 512mb ram.
But if you recall, Windows XP ran on 128mb ram until they started releasing service packs. Try xp pro sp2 with 128mb ram now. Its pretty much unusable.
As for it running perfectly well with 512mb ram or not - depends on what you want to use it for really....you can run windows 2000 on a pentium1 200 with 64mb ram - if all you want to use it for is a fileserver.
Dell certainly recommend a 1gb minimum on all Vista machines...even if they do then for some reason sell them with only 512mb.0 -
Systems which meet only minimum requirements for the “Windows Vista Capable” designation will not provide the full benefits of “Premium Ready,” including the Aero interface. Some systems may not meet the requirements for “Premium Ready,” no matter the configuration.
