Samsung Galaxy Ace/Kies wont install

Options
I have been trying over and over again to reinstall kies but it gets so far and then hangs. I have tried uninstalling and installing again but it sticks at exactly the same place each time. I had Kies working perfectly until I tried again yesterday and there was a problem. I want to be able to backup my Galaxy Ace so that I can do a factory reset. So if someone has an answer I would be very grateful.

Many thanks.

I think its temperamental, emphasis being on mental.

Switch off both computer and phone, and try it. If not leave for a day and it should hopefully work. Mine eventually worked after initial frustrations.

TBH I've got a Samsung phone, never bothered with KIES, always seemed more trouble than it's worth? Pretty much anything worth doing can be done via your Google account etc

I have a Galaxy S2 and Kies is complete and utter rubish! I can't believe that Samsung can produce such great hardware and get the software so utterly wrong.

I gave and use other software, Can't remember what it's called as I installed it after deleting Kies and it just works. Might be Airdroid? Can't check as I'm downstairs on the laptop.

In contrast my work mobile is an HTC Windows phone. As an Apple Mac user I thought I'd struggle, but no. Microsoft have phone software for the Mac and it is absolutely superb!!

It installs first time and all you do is connect the phone and it integrates with the Mac perfectly syncing everything. Go figure!

As above, sync via Google is the way.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

Thank you for trying to help but I am even more confused now. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to install KIES and then uninstalled as it keeps hanging in 'registering modules'. I am trying again now and it is the same. However, although you are trying to help me I am not experienced enough to understand what you mean and I am more than happy to download something more efficient but must have a name of the download.

Please help as I can't even find my phone on the PC now and I am tearing my hair out.

Surely it can't be this difficult, I used KIES fine when I first got my Galaxy Ace.

Remove = total remove all files and folders and registry entries .

Carbon backup from Google Play may be a better backup option .

Kies is just a complete and utter pile of crap.

Try the idea of uninstalling it and do a fresh reinstall.

which remind sme I ned to give it another go to get the latest update for my phone.
