You normally have 6 months to take a complaint to the ombudsman. I think you may be too late.

Yeah that's my first obstacle. My insurers final response letter (the one indicating my right to refer to FOS within 6 months of the date of the letter), was apparently sent to me but I never received it. So sent a letter requesting this info again as not received.

So I'm hoping FOS will take that into account. I didn't know of a 6 month time restriction on contacting them, as I never received the final response letter from from my insurers. Equally, I've never receieved a cheque, which even if disputing valuation, the should provide the cheque and me cashing it cannot affect my right to go to FOS (excuse the grammar, it's late) :)

You've had the FOS leaflet from them which usually accompanies the decision letter and is the trigger for the 6 months.

The Glass' valuation valued it as:
    Dealer: £1550
    Private: £1034
    Trade In (excellent): £430
    Trade In (average): £375
    Trade In (below average): £296

I'd be very happy with £1,015 based on those numbers, not sure why you are disappointed?
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

There's more and more threads on here that sound like wind ups. Even if I had an 11 year old Clio in mint condition and someone offered me a grand for it I'd have their hand off.

Just cos you're emotionally attached to your old banger doesn't mean the insurers are. It's a more than fair offer. You seem to be worried about the deduction for 'fair' condition when really its the bottom figure that maters, not how they pretend to arrive at it. Just take the money and move on.

yep just had a look, OP doesnt seem to take anyones advice and thinks her old banger is worth more than it is.
OP please stop throwing money at that car, i know you are attached but its time to retire it. I read on other post you want to MOT it and repair it yourself, waste of money.
Take the grand and buy a newer one, you should get a 02 plate for that money x
