It's amazing what a poke in the hole can achieve.:D0 -

Funnily enough my broadband was doing the same. I phoned the bloke in India who got me to pull out all the cables and plug them in again, and that got it going again. He told me I'd got wires in the wrong place - I set it up about six years ago and this has never happened before.0 -
We still have no sky in Ballyclare after 3 days, strangely the Free Sat is working which uses the same dish:/.... weird...0

Our next door neighbour has got sky and lost service for around 2 days during the snow storm. They always complain of poor reception in any type of heavy rain or high winds too.
We have virgin media which never goes off regardless of the weather as it runs via an underground cable.
I know not everyone can get virgin (dependant on where you live) and some people religiously prefer sky but the service issue is a real bonus if people are thinking of swopping providers.
...and no I don't work for them!!!0 -

But virgin only cover a very small proportion of NI homes0 -

Hence I said in the original post "I know not everyone can get virgin (dependant on where you live)"
If you are lucky enough to have the choice it is good to know that there will be a difference in service if the weather is bad (which will happen a lot here in n.i)0
