Decision made - BR it is!

Hi there,
After talking to even more people, cccs, national debtline and insolvency service we have decided that BR is only option. We've had two people looking into IVA and payments would be £600pm - we just cannot afford that. Strangely I feel amazingly better now that we have accepted what we are doing.
I'm really pleased that I came on here and got advice, its helped a lot and now I know that I can keep coming back with questions on the process!

Hi Melf, I'm at the same stage, and I agree, it's like a weight has been lifted already.
I cancelled all my non priority direct debits earlier and nearly swooned at the resulting much lower total of DDs! Can't wait to see a positive balance on my shiney new bank account!0 -

I know that feeling.Hi there,
After talking to even more people, cccs, national debtline and insolvency service we have decided that BR is only option. We've had two people looking into IVA and payments would be £600pm - we just cannot afford that. Strangely I feel amazingly better now that we have accepted what we are doing.
I'd put off going BR for 6 months after being advised to do it by the CCCS. The day I made the decision was after getting a horrible call from a DCA expecting a ridiculous amount of money each month that I knew I couldn't find, & then telling me that if I didn't pay it they'd levy a penalty charge for every missed/underpaid payment. I made the decision to go BR within seconds of the call ending (maybe even during it) as the woman wasn't listening to me at all. As soon as I made the decision & said it out loud to myself, a strange sort of calm just wafted over me because I realised BR really was my only option.

I'm having a crappy day today, although the decision is made I still kept looking for advice and one company I spoke to were far from helpful. basically called me an idiot for owning another house because a charge will be put on it and I'll defo lose it. Tried to explain the fact that at this point so be it if that happens, at least I won't have to worry about a landlord kicking me out for a while. If the house is taken then there is sod all I can do. Maybe I am being an idiot, I don't know what I'm doing, buying again is stupid, not doing it because I want to make the investment, just don't get renting for the same price and not even being able to put my own colour on the walls. At least with a house we're buying we can feel like its more our home. I don't know, feel sick again.
The people were cccs, when I spoke to the person the other day they advised me to go ahead but on follow up call today the woman was really horrible, had to end the call because she had me in tears. I felt like such a fool. She said tha twe should stay living with my parents and when I said we can't, we need our own home she shouted at me "don't be ridiculous, you aren't in the position to move" I'm 27 and OH is 37 - we can't sodding live with my parents any longer, been here 6 months and we need our privacy. Am I asking too much? Honestly, I'm all over the place again.0 -
Sorry to hear that....
I'm sure you will, but as long as you are sure that you have made the right decision for the future, then just go for it!
Life is too short, and spending years in debt and unhappiness is a waste of it.

I was really settled in our decision and it just takes one person to throw you again. Nerves are shot, deep down I know BR is only option. Have to just do it.0
