Benefit Entitlement -Pregnant

My girlfriend is currently pregnant and is due in July 2013, but I am not sure as to what benefit entitlements if any we will be able to receive.

My salary is £18500, and my partner is on £13,500 annually...

When my partner begins her maternity in June, she will only be on the statutory maternity pay which is only £135 a week

I know she willl receive £20.20 for child benefit, but will she be entitled to anything else to top up her wages?

We both live together, therefore am not sure if my salary will be taken into account and take us over the threshold??

We are both struggling financially as it is, as I am still paying over £270 a month on loans (car loan and personal loan) my partner has a loan which she is paying approx £150 a month for.

I have been on the Gov Uk website, but that only gives an estimate - Is there anyone that can help, please?

You will get some Tax Credits too. It is strange because it uses last years income, then you ring up with this years estimate.

£100 a week for maternity for 39 weeks is discounted as her income.

However, it will be a lot less that you are currently earning and children do bring some extra expense. You could get some housing benefit if renting (depends on where you live).

I would pop over the to the debt boards and ask for advice on where you can cut down.
