NIE.....why does there supply system fail so readily?

Options
Ok....so theres quite a bit of snow, winds are gusting to 50-60mph, hardly a real storm as reported....but as ever the lines and poles are patently not up to the job. Do the Scandanavians have this bother every time there a bit of inclement weather?

Will our incredible MLAs bother to take this inept company to task and make them install better equipment? As ever the "It'll do rightly" attitude prevails in this part of the UK!

Unfortunately we spend all that money given to us by London on much more useful things like visitor centres built without competitive tenders, a useless housing executive and corrupt housing associations, hundreds of thousands on DLA and ESA, MLA pay rises, endless public sector sick days and ridiculous legal aid payments. Unfortunatly you can't have Scandinavian levels of service with our low taxation and constant living beyond our means.

This is a private company, it has to meet certain standards, obviously set too low, hence the MLAs aspect to query!

It isn't a private company it is a GovCo.

    Edit

I think it's maybe private now actually.

There are two NIEs. One generates the electricity and one holds the distribution infrastructure. The latter is owned by a company owned by the Irish govt.

Reminiscent of when we were without power for a week a few years back, and then without water for a week the following year
