Apologies if I am on the wrong thread.

I have just signed up via microsoft website to the micrsoft office 365 (http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/try/)
It clearly states 1 month free trial then £7.99 after that, which seemed great to me as I only need it for 2 months for college, however when I signed up they immediately took £7.99 from my account then told me my browser was not compatible.
(so no free trial)

I contacted the customer service who told me I signed up for the monthly plan and so am not entitled to a free trial, as I should of just signed up for a free trial, however there is no way on the website to do this, you have to sign up to eityher the monthly plan of the yearly plan both and in order to get them and the first month free enter payment details.
The person I spoke to was of no help whatsoever, just repeatedly telling me I have a "monthly plan"

Could anyone tell me what the next thing I can do is? do I go to financial ombudsman for false advertising?

In the meantime please don't anyone sign up to it as it is an utter con!

What browser is incompatible? A simple solution would be to have a reasonably up to date version of IE. (9 or 10). Can't see why Chrome of Firefox wouldn't be ok either.
At least that way you can get the trial. Doesn't help, of course, with the £7.99.
An alternative is to give up on them and download one of the free alternatives such as Libre Office or Open Office which open and save Office files.

There is a free 60 day trial of Office 2013 here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/jj192782.aspx

I'm pretty sure you don't need a credit card to get it.

As far as I can tell, Office 365 is like Office 2013, but Office 365 has extra internet/ web stuff (Skydrive and whatnot) and is the version you rent rather than buy. I suspect the browser error was about the extra web stuff in 365.

Plus as giraffe69 says, Office 2013 does support recent versions of Chrome/ Firefox etc.
