American Express Platinum 50,000 Membership Points

I need some help.

I took out an Amex Platinum card late last year when they were offering 50,000 points if you spent so much in the first three months.

I did this but I have just been told that supposedly this offer wasn't actually on then so I get ZIP.

I unfortunately have no proof of this offer. Any advice on what I could do, as far as I know there is no legal protection over membership points.

Told by who? Off the top of my head the 50,000 MR points bonus was running for quite some time before it ended earlier this month so assuming you made the required spend, you should get the bonus points.

Call Amex customer service (I assume this is who you spoke to already?). They are generally very helpful but if you have the same problem, ask to speak to a manager.

With he platinum card you are entitled to a pro-rata refund on the annual fee so if the resolution isn't to your satisfaction then simply tell them you want to close the account (assuming you opened it in Dec, you'll get 75% of the £450 fee returned).

Saying you want to close the account will probably encourage them to give you the points (they have the ability to add points to any member's account).

Call them and see what they say. Oh, and please report on here how it goes - very few people seem to bother once they get an answer!
