how can you tell which network you're calling?

now everyone is porting their numbers is there any way of knowing what you're being charged when calling an unfamiliar mobile number?

you can tell an Orange number as it has a slighlty different ringing tone when dialling, other than that anyones guess

You can call your customer service number and they'll be able to tell you if it's one of their own, and how much you'll be charged for calls to that number.

margiepops; that site can be useful to a certain extent but the original poster was concerned that many people are porting numbers nowadays, so a number can appear to be on one network but is actually on another.

yea like mine! two days ago it was Virgin, today it's Three and the site list it as T-Mobile who I left two years ago
