Anyone got Archos?

I'm toying with (actually just turned the car around having second thoughts and thought I'd ask you guys!) getting an Archos + DVR station.
I want something that can control and record from my skybox, but also let me take lots of movies etc with me on my heavy travel schedule. (I think that means I need 2 main units  )
2 80 gig 504's plus a station come to about £520
Does anyone have experience of if they are any good; any alternatives I should consider; and any extra costs? e.g. some of the US reviews on Amazon.com suggest it doesn't come with a charger?

I have the 504 160GB Version for a similar reason. Got it off QVC with the DVR Station. It came with a PSU for the Archos and one for the DVR Station so have a spare and they are the ones with the adapter plugs so can be used in the UK or abroad.
I'm just using mine for watching DVD's on and listening to MP3's. Don't really use it for TV recording as have Sky+ so wait until I get home.
I am well impressed with my 504 the screen is excellent. Although the Case it comes with is just thin nylon material and a waste of space. So you'll need to buy a decent case.Cheers

We've had a couple Archos devices over the past few years. The devices are great for watching video on the move. They aren't so good as a main recording device at home as the recording resolution isn't as high as you would get on a purpose built hard disk or DVD recorder, and doesn't look great on a big screen (depending on what you're watching of course, and where the video was recorded).0

Rich, when you say resolution isn't as goodon a big screen ..how bad? Mainly I want to watch tv I miss while I'm away, (lost, heroes etc) not huge sfx movies... I'd appreciate your experience.Debt free 4th April 2007.
