Working tax credit and Council tax benefit

Hi all
I've been quite stressed recently with trying to work some things out, and just haven't been able to ring those that might know - or even work out exactly who to ring and when! :S And all the searches I'm doing are making me even more confused!
Basically, I have split from my long term partner and moved out of our house, but there's no equity due back to me because of debt consolidation last year, so I have no 'savings' either, but hooray I also don't have a £20k loan (phew!) I have recently had my offer accepted on a property on a shared ownership basis (I own 25%) and am going through the purchase procedure right now. So I don't yet have a completion date, or even a ballpark date
I earn £14,250pa, working 35 hours per week, and I'm 26.
I was under the impression that I may receive something towards my council tax (along with the single occupancy thingey). However - according to entitledto.com I can't claim anything off my council tax.
And according to the Inland Revenue site it said I could claim Working Tax credit, but then listed the amount as £0.00??
So does anyone know how much help with CT I'm likely to get if, in fact, any? (The property is listed as band B in Birmingham, and I can't find an exact figure for that either!)
And how can the IR site say I am entitled to WTC and then list it as a £0 figure?
I'm so confused! Any help is greatly appreciated!

It says that for me too - we're entitled to nil WTC.
Have you deducted your Pension contriubutions for last year?
Have you tried typing in your Borough for Birmingham?0 -
Income of about £200 per week, CTB min income allowance £59, income disregard £5; Income above allowance/disregard £136. Taper rate 20%, assessable income £27.20 per week. This is likely to be above your weekly CTax rate, so you won't get any CTB.
Where have you got this £16,000 income figure from? Are you sure that's not the savings threshold you've been looking at? (savings over £16k means you can't get any CTB regardless of income)0 -

No I haven't - would I just take this figure off my total income? (Sorry I'm so confused about this whole thing!)0 -
If your the only resident adult then you can get a 25% Single Person discount (contact your council tax dept) but on £14K your very unlikely to get any council tax benefit paid.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
