Hello

I have just bought a new computer (which is fab) but my old system had a version of MSN messenger that notifed you when new mail arrived into my hotmail account whatever you were doing on the computer by flashing up a box in the bottom left hand corner (and making a noise so I could hear when I had new mail from another room etc)

I have downloaded messenger on my new computer but cant seem to find this option anywhere

I have to keep manually checking for email now, which is not as handy as being in another room and hearing it, or see the pop up in the corner and even who the mail is from

Anyone any ideas ? Thank you in advance

If you go into Messenger, Tools, Options, Alerts and Sounds and check the box for 'Display alerts when e-mail received.'

thank you, but I have already tried that and that option is not there anymore !

I have a box for when contact comes online and one for instant message, but nothing for email notification

Do you think messenger have taken that facility away now ? Or is it hiding somewhere else ?

Not sure - I'm using MSN Messenger Version 7, rather than Windows Messenger. The option is available in MSN Messenger. Download it for free from Microsoft - it's way better than Windows Messenger.

Thank you both, I have downloaded the beta version which seems to be the same as my old one. I think I had the windows messenger which is spookily like the msn version.

    Cheers

Windows Messenger is rubbish. To get tid of it, make sure it's not running, then visit THIS SITE and download THIS file.

Run it, and Windows Messenger will flee! clap.gif

Get the new FINAL build of MSN Messenger v7 from THIS PAGE (official site), or from MajorGeeks (HERE).

    Hope that helps
