12% premier regular saver? why is it neveer mentioned any good?

Of course you need a min of £500 going into the premier account and then £250 to this saver, but I keep hearing criticism about it?

Isnt it better than Yorkshire BS 7% and lloyds 8%?

The A&L 12% regular saver is mentioned quite a lot on this forum and on the current accounts & budgeting forum. It gives an excellent rate, but because it is open to only new Premier current account customers - not all people qualify. Those that don't have a Premier current account may think that it is too much hassle having to fund it with £500 per month - even though the money deposited doesn't have to remain there.

I have all three of the regular savings accounts you have mentioned - expect my LTSB 8% monthly saver is on the, now withdrawn, two year deal. I think that the YBS 7% regular saver is the best of the three you've listed. This is because you don't have to open any other accounts to qualify and it allows you to continue saving up to £500 per month until the account balance reaches £20K.

Following the May 10th BOE base rate increase to 5.50%, YBS may increase the rate by the full 0.25% again to 7.25%. The current LTSB 8% monthly saver only runs for 12 months - so it is not as attractive as their previous two year offering.

Yeah I have the 2 year TSB one too, but do you think this will rise to 8.25%

I havent got the 12% A&L, so this will be my new one I guess.

No, LTSB won't increase their monthly saver rate in response to the latest base rate increase, because it is a fixed rate account. YBS' regular saver rate is variable.

I have the A&L 12% linked to premier account. Works fine as a regular saver.

My only criticism would be that it is a bit restrictive in that I can't withdraw any funds from the saver until the year is up, but that is an issue with all reg savers I think you'll find.

The min £500 credit into the premier account per month is really not an issue, just open a feeder account and deposit then withdraw.

There are some regular savers allowing some withdrawals, but si you are correct that most do not allow this.
