am getting service admin has set policy to prevent this install when trying to install them both..

think am going take the easy option and buy a new hard drive and maybe replace the ram as well, both are 4-5 years old anyway.

Is there a possibilty you're infected again? Some malware sets such policies.

unless you know otherwise, the existing hard disk may be fine, and 2GB of ram on xp is plenty.

what model of hard disk is it.

chkdsk c: /F runs a rudimentary check on it.

might run better with avast free instead of avg, post a hijackthis log.

the easier option is to do a full format, and reinstall windows again.
