Why didn't your broker collect all these items from you at the outset?

In every case, I would collect that (maybe only three months bank statements) before the application was submitted so I could respond quickly to any request.

It is likely this was originally a "fast-track" case and it has been pulled for a routine audit. This happens with a certain percentage of cases and yours just happens to be one of them.

It can usually be resolved in a couple of days. As the application is only eight days old, it's hardly dragging on.

Your employer should have provided you with a P60 just after the end of the last tax year, April or May last year.

Normally 3-4 days. Then it should just go straight to offer is all is well.

You application was not agreed on the 14th March. Until due process has been completed and you receive a formal mortgage offer then the transaction is not complete.
