How long does a mortgage offer take from Halifax

Options
Hi
Thanks for reading and replying to my thread

I wanted to know how long a mortgage offer takes, I am a FTB
The property valuation was done on 19th march 2013, and I have received the valuation letter yesterday.

Call/email them to check on progress at least weekly. I chased them every week - the bank, the solicitor, and the EA. Sometimes more than once per week.

I don't think Halifax is bad with timescales but they did manage to lose some copies for my file. I went to one of their branches to have some originals copied and they managed to 'lose' them so I had to redo it... but only after I called and they told me docs were missing from my application.

Just wanted to know if I am using a broker, should I just give Halifax a call. I dont like disturbing people, when i was speaking to my broker last week he said I will be able to find out early this week.

I used a broker, but still spoke to the bank myself on one occasion - only for my own piece of mind. No harm in calling the bank yourself if you have the time but i doubt the broker would feel as if your disturbing them by asking for updates.

I can only comment on ourselves and the person buying our house, but both surveys were done last Monday and Tuesday morning both mortgage offers were recieved. I would give them a quick call and ask

Not really sure what there is to be stressed about. If you have told the truth, it will be a yes and if you have lied deliberately or not; it will be a no.

The fact it is with an underwriter post valuation means either you/your broker was slow submitting supporting documents or it is with the Credit Decisioning Team, which means they are checking the case in more detail and any inaccuracy will be nailed.

I never had luck buying a house, I tried buying a property couple of years back and got declined. This was due to my credit history well thats what I think.
M stressing because I dont want to hear a no again.
