I've bought quite a few items too & have been VERY pleased with all of them. Ranges from brand new mostly but maybe a squished or changed box. Haven't had anything that looked used.

A handy tool is camelcamelcamel.co.uk where you can see the historical price of new items and of often warehouse deals.
Often you can get 50% or more off new prices for something that looks new.

Or if you have Firefox, there is an add-on called Camelizer that gives you a small toolbar at the bottom of the page that gives historical prices.

I've ordered loads via Amazon warehouse most of it's been perfect, few books were a bit battered but that was in the description & they were perfectly readable. Had an issue with a tv where the remote wouldn't work properly but Amazon happy to refund on that, had a right carry on returning it but that was down to Yodel when I complained to Amazon about it they arranged for citylink to pick it up the next day. I find Amazon customer service very good I just wish they didn't use Yodel.

So agree with you, just had an item that Yodel lost on the way, first time ever that I didn't get something ordered on Amazon, after many many purchases.

My toaster arrived yesterday, it was brand new (but not in its original box). I should mention that the Warehouse is brilliant for printer ink, toys and vitamins (bit of a mad combination I know).
