Car Hire

I booked car hire with Avis at a cost of £1,278. They have now charged my card £3785. They refuse to discuss it and claim it represents what I signed for. This is patently wrong. How can I get their claim reviewed?

If its a UK hire, sue them for the difference via money claim online.

Or if you paid by credit card, speak to your card company.

Was this charged after the car was returned? If so was there any damage to the car? Simple scratches can cost £00s each.

They are a professional outfit - I cant really believe they have refused to tell you what they have charged you for.

You will have agreed to various other charges at some point - insurance, CDW, Fuel, etc.

Did you return to the same depot as you hired from ?

What does it say on the invoice? All charges should be itemised.

Are you sure thats the final total and there isnt a preauth on the card as well that will go after a few days?
