Anyone else addicted to Excel spreadsheets?

I love my excel spreadsheet. I have:
An overall budget one that contains overall summaries by month of what is in each account, how many points (nectar, ipoints, quidco, pigsback...etc) we have, current status of all cards/debts.
Then a proper budget sheet with a complete breakdown of where all the money went.
Then a mystery shopping one for all my MS jobs...
Then one for all the extra income 'earnt' from cashing in points...ie quidco paid into my account, vouchers claimed from pigsback, nectar points used etc (so far £240 since 1st Jan)
And a shopping one which I list all the items we buy with prices so I can strictly plan our food shop...after 6 weeks now this is proving quite useful cos you can get a realistic idea of how much you get through things...so I might be able to get to a point where I can buy certain things monthly if I know how much I really need of them.
I have some more too, but those are the ones I use virtually daily. Yes, sad I know.
Oh yeah a snowball one...but for this I just use the snowball website and update my sheet every now and then.0 -
IA - if your a saddo then can I join your club

I have them for everything- Money In/Out/Bills/Savings
- Meal planner complete with auto sums for ww points linked to a shopping list that I "shop online" from asda for. I then print this list of and REALLY go shopping - my challenge is for my real bill to match the list
I wont do the online shop coz I'm a bit anal about best before dates (and spreadsheets it also seems
)
- Which Disney DVD's there are and which ones we have in our collection
I'm the same as you IA and taught myself to use it when I worked at a call center and the phones were quite :rotfl::heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Oh crumbs! I have one spreadsheet.
Well, one, but with 17 odd pages to it......
- Main page is a replica of my bank statement with a forecast to September 2007
- Savings spreadsheet showing what category my savings are allocated to
- breakdown of salary (net/gross/tax etc), average over year to keep me up to date with tax credit estimates.
- Breakdown of freebies - tesco points, pigsback etc
- Meter readings
- Seperate rent and council tax payments/owing
- list of debts and owings
- list of debts with own snowball mock up
- list of urgent things ie. passport numbers and mobile EMI numbers.
The whole family life is on it! I also save a copy of the file and keep it n the safe - we would be lost if the PC went down!
I do not have EVER any bank account numbers on it though. Or personal stuff like DOB etc. Incase the PC was stolen. (Although the file is passworded!)0 -
YES!!!!
Can I join your club??
I have a mortgage amortisation table downloaded from somewhere on 'tinternet, monthly bills/wages spreadsheet and one detailing how much we have overpaid on the mortgage.
Great:rotfl:It's not a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a man with a torch and more jobs
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.0 -
Look at all you clever lot with your spreadsheets :T I know enough about them to get by, but wouldn't be able to do the complex type stuff you guys do. Besides, I get fed up of sitting in front of a computer in the evenings when I've been using one all day at work.
For those who aren't too sure on Excel, I have my own addiction - MS Money! Brilliant piece of kit, I wouldn't be without it. I've been using it for about 2 years, started of with Money 2000, but decided to upgrade to Money 2005 a couple months back.0 -
I have to admit I haven't used my financial spreadsheet for a while, as I got used to my financial situation (I got in debt after finishing uni and moving hundreds of miles away from home about 3 or 4 years ago). Today I can practically remember every bill I've got going out for the month, and as most of them are on direct debit I don't need to do anything except check my statements EVERY MONTH.
However, I do use spreadsheets on a very regular basis for my work, things like designing prestressed concrete beams, retaining walls, all sorts of structural design really. I can even define new functions (to an extent),to make my life easier.
Just so you know, my largest Excel file is 33Mb. Any challengers?

208Mb  stuck a couple of thousand formulas off two pivots out of an access database. Havent told IT that yet though :rotfl:
That's how to do it. Mines for dealing with a shed load of numbers out of a structural analysis program. The best bit's when I press the button and it all updates automatically. It takes about a minute to run through everything!0 -
