Warning about vouchers for oven cleaning company

Im not sure if this is the correct forum to put this warning on, so apologies if its not.
I bought a voucher from "wowcher" for an Oven/Hob clean for the fantastic price of £15. I called the company "Dr Oven" and made an appointment for last Tuesday using the voucher purchased. I waited and waited but no one turned up. I tried calling Dr Oven but they werent answering their phone and their voicemail was full so couldnt leave a message. I then called "wowcher" who told me the oven cleaning company were "having problems" and wouldnt be honoring the voucher purchased. They have told me they will be refunding the money but it might take up to 5 days. I have emailed Dr Oven to ask why they let me down like this, but they havent had the courtesy to reply.
I am not saying that "wowcher" itself is at fault, but I am furious that neither "Dr Oven" or "wowcher" bothered to let me know that no one was going to turn up, both had my email address as the purchase was done on the internet.
I just wanted to warn others about this, please check if you have bought one of these vouchers.

I too bought a voucher off Wowcher for an oven clean with Dr Oven and had the same problem. I asked Wowcher why no one had been told and they replied that they have only recently found out.0

Hi Joanne, I posted my complaint on the wowcher facebook page this morning and had a reply saying that they sent emails to all customers who had bought this particular voucher. I didnt receive one, did you? They told me to send them an email about it quoting "facebook" in the title, which I did. Its weird but this afternoon, Ive had an email telling me my refund has been done, yet this was supposed to have been actioned on tuesday. If you havent had your refund yet, you might need to do the same as me, they are still saying it could take up to 5days for it to arrive.

I am a carpet cleaner and have had calls wanting me to sign up for these voucher deals.
As far as I could see it`s a non starter from a business owners perspective.
If you consider £15 to come and clean an oven when the voucher firm have a cut too.
I operate on a £30 minimum and that`s tight.
They wanted me to work on a £10 minimum and advised me to upsell, and send my good reputation to the wall.
I don`t think so!
Work on £40 to £50 for a decent job and that`s about right.0 -
Hi carpetbloke...thankyou for your reply. I can quite understand what you mean and I dont blame you for protecting your good name and business. Dr Oven would have had to travel a 50 mile round trip to honour the voucher before they even did the work, so its not suprising they didnt do it, however, Dr Oven should never have signed up for the deal in the 1st place, they should have done what you did and "done their sums", but instead they let us, their customers, down. The cost of diesel alone would have been more than the £15, so I do understand. What I am annoyed about, is that no one let me know....I have this morning had an email from paypal to say they have had a refund from wowcher so hopefully I will now get my money back, but this was supposed to have been done last Tuesday, it would seem that its only been done since I put my "views" on their facebook page yesterday.0

Good Morning
We cannot comment on individual cases on a public forum however we do check all merchants carefully before we run a deal with them to ensure that they can honour the deal they advertise. On occasion situations arise which alter their ability to carry out the deal and as soon as we are notified we inform all affected customers, unfortunately we can only act on the information provided by the merchant regarding this which is why some people may not have received the email we sent out.
If you wish to have any further information or have not yet received your expected refund please email enquiries@wowcher.co.uk with MSE in the subject line.
Kind Regards

Wowcher representative, thankyou for your reply. As I said in my earlier post, it would have cost Dr Oven more than the £15 I paid, to come and honour the voucher I bought through Wowcher, so I wasnt suprised they had problems fulfilling them. You say that you "can only act on the information provided by the merchant regarding this which is why some people may not have received the email we sent out", Im not suggesting thats untrue, but surely wowcher as a company themselves, keep records of vouchers purchased by customers? The thing that really annoyed me was not receiving any information that I wouldnt be getting what I had paid for. If I hadnt called wowcher that day, I wouldnt know what had happened. If as you said, you act on the information provided by Dr Oven, who hadnt, it would seem, told you about me or I would have had your email, then it follows that I wouldnt have received my refund either. This does not fill me with confidence.0

Wowcher representative...thankyou for your reply, I dont need to contact you. My own view is that I didnt get the service I would have expected and wanted to let others know as they may still be waiting for the company concerned to fulfill their own voucher, but the matter is now closed as far as Im concerned.0
