Would you get a home buyer survey on a 10 year old house?

We had a building survey done on a property over 100 years old and it came back with too much work
Put an offer on an average sized 4 bed 10 year old house, would a survey be worthwhile?

Would you buy a five year old car without checking out under the bonnet/ looking at the service history/ ensuring it's passed an MOT?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I won't be using the same guy for repeat business as service wasn't as expecyed0 -
Are you sure your expectations of the surveyor were realistic?
Personally I'd take an old house with some work to do over a newish standard shoebox any day- and did. Despite the results of a survey (which didn't pick up the damp which we since *fingers crossed* rectified...0 -
The old house was ver apparent once we were shown, ie porch moved away from house due to movement, bay windows bowed and not straight, which meant windows were compressed and not aligned, a boiler on a wall was sticking out like 45 degrees due to external wall pointing out etc etc.
We didn't choose the new house cos its newer, but it's what's in budget and it ticks boxes with location and things we are lookin for0 -

what was wrong with the service? seems like he picked up quite a few issues that help you decide to pull outNow buying our second house:
Accepted offer 16/12/18. Offer accepted 26/1/19. Buyer pulled out 4/2/19. Accepted new offer 13/2/19
FTB: Offer accepted 23/2/2013 Mortgage application 28/2/2013 Valuation: 4/3/2013 Valuation ok 15/3/2013 Mortgage Offer 21/3/2013 Exchange 10/4/2013 Completion 26/4/21030 -
Personally I would definitely get the survey. We were the first owners of our new flat and despite it only being 4 years old, some major structural repairs will soon be needed.
Sadly new builds cut a lot of corners, factor in a huge development where it is impossible to get every single thing scrutinised before building code sign off, and it could be a recipe for disaster.[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

Got his details through a comparison site, well he called me
Decided to go with him and paid up front before service which before this communication was quick
Tried to tie down a date which I had to chase for several times
Report said x days but took over a week etc. just wasn't very professional. Report came and queried about no photos and he's not responded0 -
Only cash buyers sometimes avoid surveys.0
