Help Required Windows XP Home Set up!!

Options
I am attempting to reinstall Windows XP Home with SP2 on a desktop PC, I have got through a good part of the instal but the process stops all the time with 13 minutes remaining at the "registering components" part of the installation. I have tried restarting on a few occasions but it still stops at the 13 minute point and there does not appear to be any activity.
I would be grateful for any assistance.

Thanks!

have your tried "quick format" before the install ??

try removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes then replace and turn on so that it re detects the HDD etc, then retry

Also, remove all USB devices during the setup process, it could be hanging when trying to register a usb stick, wireless adapter, printer, etc.
