Weight of juliet balcony?

Hi all,
It may be that nobody will be able to help me with this, but I thought I'd give it a go
I have just bought a juliet balcony and am arranging for a courier to collect it. It is a standard (plain vertical bars) metal (solid I think) juliet balcony measuring 1.2m x 1.4m. I wouldn't expect this to weigh much.....maybe around 25kg to 35kg, but the person I have bought it off says it weighs 135kg! Surely this can't be correct.....that would make it over 21 stone.
Does anybody have an idea of how much it may weigh? Any assistance would be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
I did Google it and came up with the same website as you, but I was thinking that the ones weighing that much would be the ones with platforms maybe? I also e-mailed a couple of people selling similar ones and they came back with 20kg and 35kg, but the person I have bought this one off says definitely 135kg. I just can't see it weighing that much really, because I have seen big multi-fuel stoves that only weigh 129kg.
Thanks again!0 -
I doubt it's that heavy, but they are solid steel.
It all depends on how ornate they are too, curved rails and fancy work add to the weight.
I did give someone a hand to fit a similar sized 1 a couple of years back, bit bigger but plain, can't have been heavier than 50kg as I could support it while the wall was marked.
I take it you have bought this 2nd hand privately?, then ask them to pop it on the bathroom scales, it will be in the range they can cope with.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
What about the weight of the pallet?
Surely you'll have to palletise it for the courier to collect? Typical pallet is 18-22kg.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for the very helpful reply cyclonebri1 :T
I completely agree with you; I can't see it weighing more than 50kg. It's not a fancy one and is one of the smaller sizes you can get I think.
What a great idea re. the bathroom scales too......like you say, they would be able to cope with the weight no problem0 -

You will find that it isn't necessary for an item to be palletised for a courier, the 1 my daughter bought came flat packed almost, it was simply bubble wrapped;), which doesn't add much in weight terms.

The post implies that the OP has bought this second hand and so already assembled?
How is a driver going to lift 35kg (or more) onto a van? 'Elf and safety will not approve...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I simply don't know, we don't even have the weight (yet), but they do have provisions and I have received and sent over this weight by courier so it is possible.
PS elf & shirley seem to disappear once it's down to losing a carriage;);), "stick it on big Jim's van":AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

135lbs is about 60kgs.0 -
If you know the actual make and model, cannot the manufacturer confirm the weight?
How does the vendor know that it's 135kg? Presumably not from his bathroom scales. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
