Hi All,
When searching for the correct job how many applications were you putting out per week and what sources were you using?
I currently try to apply for at least 5 per week but I've been told this is too many so I would appreciate your views.
Thanks in advance.

Correct job can mean different things to many people, correct job for me is a job that gives me sometihng to do and pays a wage. For others I magine theres more to it.0 -

If i remember correctly when I was on jsa I was applying for about 10 a week, used something like 4 websites that collect all the job ads eg jobsite and something like 12/13 websites for vacancies at various companies. I was just looking for a job to get off jsa but there are job vacancy sites out there that cater for specific sectors.
I dont think 5 jobs a week is alot. Depends how badly you want a job.0 -
I apply for at least 10 a week. I have to as part of my JSA agreement, but also because I desperately want a job.
I spend my 'working day' job searching and applying - 9-5, that's what I do. I've been looking at administration and office manager roles, as well as roles that require the skills and experience I have, that I may not have done before. I'm considering most things and applying, giving them a shot.0 -

Pretty much what I did. I know I had to use 3 different sources to find a job but cant remember the minimum I had to apply for but I know I exceeded it.0 -

As long as you aren't doing one of these then there is no 'too many':
- applying for jobs way out of your criteria
- applying for multiple jobs at the same time for the same employer without being clear why (eg. overlapping skills is ok, "I'll take any job you've got" isn't)
- applying for the same jobs with the same employer over and over again
- sending repetitive regular speculative applications to the same employer
All of those may - and only may - affect you for the jobs you actually are likely to get if the employer realise you are doing it as they may think less of you. The top one is more about being sensible with your time though.
Who is saying that you are applying for too many?0 -
I use Reed and then regularly check the more specialist sites relevant to the sector I'm using to working in - education and training - as well as local colleges and council vacancies.0

I'm currently employed and while I felt 5 per week would be the bare minimum I would apply for, I have at present been applying for upwards of 10 per week.0

i apply for lots. im on different websites and anything i meet the criteria for that would be within an hour or so's drive away i apply for. the majority of the time i get letters to state they had to enhance the criteria due to the number of of applicants."Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that!"0
