hi me again, sorry, as you know i had a virus on my comp and had to reinstall xp, now when i try to play a cd it says cant because there is no sound device, ive looked on the control panel systems and it has yellow question marks against it, ive tried updating driver and it says cant do it.
Ive looked thro all my discs and frantically installed all of them with no joy. ive also looked thro this thread and followed quite a few instructions, also with no joy... any ideas???
thanks loops

I'm guessing that the sound card is built into the motherboard, rather than a standalone card. If so, you need the motherboard driver disk.
If you don't have it, or you don't know what motherboard you have, download install and run Everest (see link below) -
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Everest-Home-Edition.shtml
It will tell you which motherboard and/or sound card you have. Post the details here, and we will be able to point you to the sound card drivers.0 -
