Ha ha, I remember feeling the same! My interview was interesting. We had been sent a challenge to complete at home and bring in with us, so part of it was focused on that. It was about getting us to reflect on what it's like to be helpless and have to accept help. Critical analysis and ability to be able to reflect that in the world of social work was key here (ie, how do you think service users feel? And being able to see the power imbalances). There was the 'what skills does a sw need?' question, and the hardest of all was 'what prejudices do you have?'. Obviously you won't have the same questions, but that's the gist of what mine was like. I remember thinking it wasn't what I expected at all - it wasn't about what I'd done in the past and how I could transfer these skills etc.

The written test was fine, in my case, it was pretty much 'can you write?' but I know that other Uni's do this one differently.

I'd do some googling if I was you. Sometimes you can get a flavour for their interview styles on forums. Also, it might be good to get the heads up on the written paper. Some Uni's provide you with a written piece which you have to analyse. I'd also recommend that you find a current sw topic which interests you in case something along those lines comes up.

Does that help at all? Sorry, so very tired! This course is exhausting (but great!) xx

I would suggest looking at your spelling and general writing style beforehand. Course entry is competitive, you wouldn't want to let your use of text speak let you down.

    Thomas thankyou for that

islide thankyou but  my main reason for wanting to be a sw has been shot down as a cliche, I will need to think of some more. Thankyou very much for the link I will continue to scare myself with it.

    thanks again :j

Ah, yes, do not say it's because you want to help people (if that's what you were thinking!). SW is tough, gritty and enshrouded in law. Ultimately the aim is (often) to empower people to be able to make changes in their lives whilst always complying with the law. Good luck xx
