Hi,
Just wondered if someone could give me an idea of cost of replacing Cambelt, waterpump and Auxillary belt on a 2007 Megane.Renault garage have quoted about £850 but was going to ring up a couple of local mechanics.Any recommedations of places near Reading would be handy.

I'd have thought you should be able to get it done for an easy £300. Maybe less.

Not with the pump as well.

Update: Now got 2 quotes £485 and £450 so not too bad for Cambelt, pump and another belt from local garages.

    Kits are £100-£120 including pump?

Even at £20 an hour is it a more than 9 hour job?

it was a 6-hour job when I had mine done at my local garage last year. I was just under £400 for the whole thing, parts (including water pump) and labour.
  • Depends if it has the Dephaser pulley or not... That'll be £100+ extra on top of ordinary Cambelt.

My local garage charged me £400 for a full service including cambelt, waterpump and gearbox oil change a few months back on a 2006 megane dci. Renault were doing an offer at the time which would have done the cambelt only for £425. A reliable independent might be the best bet. I had a quote from an independent renault specialist in northwest for £200 for belt and pump kit, or £350 including a service, but that didn't come in until I'd already had it done.

I should point out though, the new tensioner went after a day and sent me back home on a towtruck. They did right by me though and repaired it fully, and gave me a loaner for the duration - I think they claimed on the Gates guarantee.
