Boiler Cover from Worcester Bosch

Options
Firstly, let me say that the Worcester Bosch service is fantastic - quick response and friendly, efficient, helpful engineers. My boiler broke down last year and they fixed it free providing I took out their 12 month contract at around £22 per month. They promised the renewal would be cheaper because it didn’t involve an immediate repair.

On to this year and the renewal was for just about the same money. CS person from the subsidiary that deals with the payments said it was due to rising costs - BALDERDASH! And I told her so.

I phoned Worcester Bosch direct (like I did last year) and the ‘new’ cover quote is for just under £16.

I guess the mantra should be ‘never renew anything’!

I wonder how effective the scheme is. I have a 3 year warranty, and I have no idea at what age I can expect boiler problems. I have found WB to be very good, quick to answer customer support questions, and quick to fix a minor issue under warranty.

We love our Worcester boiler too. It developed a fault about three years ago, which our plumber couldn't fix (he'd installed it). The financial side of it was a bit of an oddity, in that we were told that it would cost £250 regardless of how simple or complicated the repair was. The chappie replaced all of the parts which might have been responsible for the problem, and he said their value was well in excess of the £250 charge.
    Better is good enough.

The warranties are a mystery to me. Some boilers, like mine, were supposed to be three years, this was then extended to five, then to ten years. Some are advertised at five years, some seven, some ten.

Perhaps the WB mse user could clarify this?
